US-Iran Possible Agreement: A Diplomatic Effort to Reduce Tensions in the Region
Baltimore, USA: The American Muslim community is in deep mourning following the tragic shooting at the San Diego Islamic Center last week, which claimed three lives. However, at the annual convention of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) in Baltimore, community leaders emphasized the urgent need to transform grief into collective action. According to The Pakistan Time, the event was attended by approximately 25,000 people.
Speakers honored the bravery of the three victims—security officer Amin Abdullah, caretaker Mansoor Kaziha, and a neighbor, Nader Awad—who sacrificed their lives to save others. Laina Masri, an attorney for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), stated, "We are indebted to their resolve. This incident reminds us that we must be more proactive in defending our civil rights, freedom of worship, and the cause of Palestine."
The situation in Palestine remained a central theme throughout the conference. Speakers highlighted the direct link between rising Islamophobia in the US and the atrocities committed by Israel. They expressed concern that anti-Palestine voices are attempting to "intimidate" Muslims to silence any criticism of Israel. Professor Altaf Hussain remarked, "The record turnout at the ICNA conference proves that the community is not afraid and will not back down from advocating for its rights."
In response to the San Diego shooting, the community raised over $3.5 million for the victims' families and strengthened security around Muslim institutions. ICNA President Saad Kazmi noted, "If anything has emerged from this tragedy, it is that more people are coming to the mosque, realizing that the way forward is to strengthen our community and move ahead."
According to The Pakistan Time, the conference concluded with a resolute commitment from the American Muslim community to remain politically active, participate in voting
