The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially suspended the membership of Cricket Canada following serious allegations of corruption, financial mismanagement, and complete governance failure. This is considered one of the harshest actions taken by the ICC against a major associate member in recent years.

Official Suspension

According to the ICC’s official statement, Cricket Canada committed multiple severe violations of the membership code, leaving the world governing body with no choice but to take this extreme step. Following this decision, no Canadian team will be allowed to participate in any ICC-sanctioned global or regional event.

Governance Failure

Last month, the ICC had already frozen all funding to Cricket Canada and given the board a six-month ultimatum to rectify its affairs. However, an ICC review revealed a complete absence of a proper governance system, missing financial statements, and widespread corruption within the administration.

Reinstatement Conditions

An ICC spokesperson stated that Cricket Canada’s membership will only be reinstated after full compliance with all rules and regulations. Experts believe this suspension is a major blow to the future of cricket in Canada.

Possible Lifetime Bans

Sources told Pakistan Times Live that the ICC is also considering individual lifetime bans against several Cricket Canada officials.
