Islamabad: Under the Iranian President Visit Pakistan Schedule, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad today, June 23, 2026, on a one-day official visit to Pakistan. The Iranian President, invited by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was given a grand welcome at Islamabad's Nur Khan Air Base.


President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari warmly received the Iranian President at the airport. On this occasion, a 21-gun salute was given to the Iranian President and Pakistani fighter jets conducted a fly-past in his honor.


Islamabad Streets Turn Golden with Banners


The scene of Islamabad has completely changed today. The federal capital has been decorated with Pakistani and Iranian flags and welcome banners for the reception of the Iranian President. Throughout the city, you will see banners with pictures of the President and Prime Minister bearing welcome messages. Large Pakistani and Iranian flags have been hung along the roads and at squares, reflecting the significance of this historic visit.


Tight Security Arrangements and Road Closures


Strict security arrangements have been made in the capital for the Iranian President's visit. Entry points to the Red Zone have been completely closed, with only specific staff allowed entry.


Detailed schedule of road closures:

Srinagar Highway from Zero Point to Dhokri Chowk is completely closed. Islamabad Expressway from Koral to Faizabad is closed. Traffic diversions are in place on Murree Road and Club Road. All entry points to the Red Zone are closed, with only Marriott Hotel and Margalla Road routes open.


Metro Bus Service Also Suspended


Public transport has also been restricted in the city. Metro Bus Service operations in Islamabad are completely suspended today. However, service will continue from Saddar to Faizabad in Rawalpindi from 6 AM to 7 PM.


Government Offices Closed, High Court Holiday


All government offices located in the Red Zone have been directed to work from home today. The Islamabad High Court will also remain closed today due to security arrangements, with all court proceedings suspended.


Iranian President's Agenda and Purpose of Visit


This visit is the first major high-level contact after the US-Iran peace agreement. According to the Iranian President Visit Pakistan Schedule, the Iranian President will thank Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan's mediation.


During the visit, the Iranian President will hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. These meetings will discuss bilateral trade, energy cooperation, border security, and regional connectivity.


Islamabad's roads are closed, the metro bus is not running, and the people of the city have come out of their homes to be part of this important visit. This welcoming scene reflects Pakistan's diplomatic importance, where on one hand city life is suspended while on the other, the Iranian President is being given a warm welcome.
