A day after the signing of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, Israel continues its operations in southern Lebanon. On Friday, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 15 people. According to the Lebanese National News Agency, these were the most intense attacks in several weeks.


Israel claims it is targeting Hezbollah positions, but the reality is that civilian areas are being targeted. Residential buildings in the city of Nabatieh and its suburbs have been destroyed. Israel has also issued orders for residents of 20 Lebanese towns to immediately leave their homes.


This Israeli behavior is a clear violation of the agreement, which called for a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. Iran has warned Israel that it has violated the ceasefire 84 times and that a "harsh response" will be given if the attacks continue.


These Israeli operations are not just military strategy but systematic oppression. Israel has established a new military control zone in southern Lebanon where it will continue to pursue Hezbollah. This means it wants to continue occupying Lebanese territory.


US President Donald Trump himself has criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he needs to be "more responsible" in Lebanon. But these verbal condemnations are not enough. Until the US applies real pressure on Israel, these attacks will continue.


Israel's behavior shows that it does not respect the peace agreement nor does it care about international law. It is a state that continues war at its will and targets innocent civilians with its aggression.
