Lebanon: The New Epicenter of US-Iran Tensions – Middle East Bleeds as War Expands
Special Report by Pakistan Times Live

The ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran have turned Lebanon into the region’s most active and dangerous front. Israeli forces have not only fully entered southern Lebanon but have pushed forward to the Litani River, capturing dozens of Lebanese villages and towns. Ongoing military operations have resulted in widespread destruction of residential areas and infrastructure, leaving approximately 800,000 people displaced from their homes.
On one hand, US President Donald Trump is trying to salvage delicate negotiations with Tehran, but his continued support for Israel has brought the Lebanese conflict to a critical juncture. Israeli forces recently recaptured the strategically significant Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, a move described by the Israeli Prime Minister as a "dramatic change in policy." While Trump managed to prevent Israeli ground operations in Beirut, military operations continue in southern Lebanon.
Leading Middle East experts Nicholas Noe, Maya Rosen, and Randa Slim have expressed deep concern over the situation, highlighting the growing risks of humanitarian and political instability in the region. According to them, Lebanon is no longer just a warring party but has become the central battlefield of the undeclared war between the US and Iran. In protest against Israeli operations, Iran has suspended indirect negotiations with the US, further increasing the chances of a large-scale regional conflict.
In a separate development concerning free speech, the UK revoked the visas of prominent American commentators Cenk Uygur and Hasan Piker. Both commentators are vocal critics of Israeli and US policies and were invited to speak at the SXSW festival in London and Oxford University. The UK Home Office canceled their Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETA), prompting Uygur to state, "Western governments are suppressing their own citizens on behalf of another country. Are we not free anymore?" This move has raised several questions about the freedom of political expression in the UK.
In the field of technology, Spain has introduced a chatbot called "AfrofeminasGPT," designed to challenge racism and bias in artificial intelligence. Trained on Black feminist and decolonial thought, the chatbot was created by Antoinette Torres Soler. Its primary goal is to eliminate racial and gender biases present in conventional AI systems. However, experts are still investigating whether such alternative models can truly break free from the biased foundations on which current AI systems are built.
Pakistan Times Live is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide readers with further analysis and breaking news regarding these serious developments in the coming days.
