Southern Lebanon Massacre: Israeli Brutality Kills Brigadier General, Ceasefire in Tatters

Just as the world's eyes were fixed on the fragile US-brokered ceasefire, Israeli forces launched a devastating attack in southern Lebanon, shattering all agreements. The bloody incident on the Khardali-Nabatieh road targeted senior Lebanese army officers, resulting in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Samer Sabra and nine other brave soldiers.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Defense, the Israeli Air Force directly targeted a military vehicle on Friday, in which Brigadier General Samer Sabra, Captain Elie Khoury, and Private Hassan Ghazal were present. This is the same route where fierce fighting has been ongoing for the past few weeks and where Israeli forces had repeatedly issued evacuation orders.

**Names of the Martyrs, Engraved in Golden Letters in the Annals of History:**

- **Brigadier General Samer Sabra:** An experienced and proud officer of the Lebanese army, fully aware of the area's conditions. His martyrdom has plunged the entire nation into mourning.

- **Captain Elie Khoury:** A young officer who prioritized his duty above life itself.

- **Private Hassan Ghazal:** A simple and brave soldier who was always at the forefront of defending his homeland.

Immediately after the attack, the Lebanese army issued a strong reaction, calling it **"brutal, deliberate, and repeated Israeli aggression."** An army spokesperson stated that this Israeli action is tantamount to sabotaging all peace efforts and that the Israeli claim of it being an "active and organized combat zone" is merely an excuse.

**Local Reaction: Southern Lebanon Becomes a Cauldron of Fire**

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun termed the attack **"a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international law."** In his statement, he said, "Lebanon will not tolerate any violation against its land and people." Prime Minister Najib Mikati immediately convened a high-level meeting.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, rejecting Israeli claims, stated that **this attack was not an accident but a planned assassination.** Hezbollah, in its reaction, called it **"an abominable crime,"** warning that Israel would pay a heavy price for it.

**The Death Toll: A Tragedy That Cannot Be Ignored**

The figures of this war, which began in early March, are extremely horrifying. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health:

- **Total Martyrs:** 3,558

- **Total Injured:** 10,870

- **Number of Displaced Persons:** Over 1 million

These are the statistics that unmask the horrific face of Israeli aggression.

**New Tensions Between Iran and the US**

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, severely criticizing the allegations leveled against Tehran, said, **"If Lebanon were a bargaining chip for Iran, we would have made a deal long ago."** He urged the Lebanese leadership to focus its attention on the **real enemy**, Israel.

Despite reports that US President Donald Trump has prevented Israel from launching a ground operation in Beirut, the situation in southern Lebanon remains extremely alarming. Global powers stand as silent spectators while Lebanon bleeds.

This attack is clear evidence that Israel is not bound by any ceasefire agreement. Unless the international community takes concrete action, southern Lebanon will continue to present the scene of an open battlefield, where the number of innocent victims increases with each passing day.

Pakistan Times Live is keeping a close watch on the situation. We will soon provide our readers with further analysis and breaking news on this escalating tension.
