The Crumbling Edifice of Zionism: When Jewish Youth Rise Against Israel Themselves
Special Analytical Report by Pakistan Times Live

The Jewish diaspora scattered around the world was once known as a united voice in support of Israel. But in recent years, especially after the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the expansion of Jewish settlements in the West Bank, this consensus appears to be fracturing.
The Past Decade: When the Jewish Community Was Israel's Shield
In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, most Jews living in the United States and Europe considered Israel their "safe home." The trauma of the Holocaust compelled them to ensure that any Jewish state, no matter how controversial its policies, would be protected. During that era, Jews who raised their voices against Israel were labeled "self-hating" and were ostracized from the community.
Jewish organizations such as AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and conservative Jewish groups provided financial and political support for every Israeli military operation. Even during the 2014 Gaza war, when Israel killed four Palestinian children playing football on the beach, mainstream Jewish institutions called it "self-defense."
The Present Situation: How the Edifice Crumbled
The situation changed dramatically after 2023. The killing of more than 75,000 Palestinians in Gaza, daily raids in the West Bank, and Israeli military operations extending to Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran, and Iraq have shaken the thinking of young Jews.
Three major events accelerated this change: the bombing of hospitals and schools in Gaza, which international courts have labeled war crimes; Israeli ministers openly making statements about genocide, such as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich saying that "Palestinians should be left to starve"; and the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for Israeli leaders.
After these events, new Jewish groups emerged in the United States and Britain, such as Jewish Voice for Peace and Na'amod. These groups openly call Israel a "genocide state" and say that "our identity does not justify Israel's war crimes."
New York Mayor Zoran Mamdani boycotted this year's Israel Day Parade, which was welcomed by these Jewish groups. Israeli Minister Smotrich, who attended the parade, was met with chants of "shame" and "war criminals."
The Future Scenario: Is This Change Permanent?
According to experts, this trend is rapidly spreading among the younger generation. Keith Kahn-Harris, a senior analyst, says that "the Jewish consensus on Israel is dissolving, and anti-Zionist sentiments are growing among the youth."
In a possible scenario, if Israel does not immediately change its policies, the Jewish diaspora will split into two parts within the next five years. One part will continue to traditionally support Israel (mostly the older generation and Orthodox circles), while the other part (especially young, liberal, and progressive Jews) will completely dissociate from Israel and may become supporters of a two-state solution or a single secular state.
This change would be a huge strategic loss for Israel, because Israel's biggest diplomatic and financial weapon is the Jewish lobby in the United States. If that lobby breaks, Israel's international position will weaken further.
Analysis by Pakistan Times Live
The fragmentation of the Jewish diaspora is actually a result of Israel's own aggressive policies. When a state claims to represent all Jews and then tramples international law, naturally those Jews who believe in true democratic values will distance themselves from it.
This movement is still in its early stages, but its pace indicates that the number of Jews beating the drum for atrocities committed in the name of Israel will rapidly decrease in the coming years. This could be a historic turning point for Zionism.
Pakistan Times Live is closely monitoring the situation.
