Trump and Netanyahu Engage in Heated Exchange: US President Labels Israeli PM ‘Crazy’

Washington DC: June 02, 2026
A recent telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed intense tensions. This is said to be the most bitter exchange between the two leaders since Trump’s return to the White House, primarily centered on Israel’s escalating military operations in Lebanon.
According to a report by the website 'Axis', Trump used extremely harsh words during the conversation, calling Netanyahu ‘Crazy’. Trump expressed strong anger over the expansion of Israeli military operations against Hezbollah, believing that such actions could derail ongoing US-Iran negotiations.
A US official stated that Trump clearly warned Netanyahu that threats to bomb Beirut would push Israel into further international isolation. Sources say Trump reminded Netanyahu of his political support in the corruption cases against him, remarking that the Israeli Prime Minister is not appreciating that support.
While acknowledging Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Trump objected that the Israeli government’s response is based on disproportionate aggression. He expressed serious concern over the expansion of ground operations in southern Lebanon and civilian casualties.
Sources claim that Trump succeeded in blocking the Israeli plan to target Hezbollah positions inside Beirut, which was later confirmed by an Israeli official. However, Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear in his statement that if Hezbollah attacks continue, Israel reserves the right to strike targets in Beirut.
The draft reconciliation agreement under discussion between Washington and Tehran includes a clause for ending the fighting in Lebanon, which remains the main reason for the differences between Trump and Netanyahu.
An interesting quote:
When a journalist asked Trump to confirm the ‘crazy’ remark, Trump smiled and said: "I said what I said. But remember, crazy is the one who repeats the same mistake over and over again."
