Geneva: The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has revealed in its latest report released on Tuesday that Israeli authorities and security forces are deliberately targeting Palestinian children in Gaza.

According to the report, this Israeli action is a key part of the ongoing "genocide" in Gaza. The three-member investigative team stated that they have found solid evidence that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by Israeli security forces. Israel has rejected the report, calling it "defamatory" and a "libelous sham."

The commission stated that the mass killing of children is key to establishing "the genocidal intent of the Israeli authorities and security forces to destroy the larger Palestinian group in Gaza." The commission had first determined in September last year that Israel had committed "genocide" in Gaza, a finding that Israel flatly rejected.

According to the report, between October 7, 2023, and October 7, 2025, at least 20,179 Palestinian children were martyred, constituting approximately 30 percent of the total deaths in Gaza. A total of 44,143 children were injured. This proportion of child casualties is significantly higher compared to previous conflicts.

The investigative team stated that the Israeli military continued to use high-payload munitions and weapons with wide-area effects in densely populated areas, resulting in a large number of child casualties. The commission said that "this indicates that such attacks, which killed children in such high numbers, were intentional."

Commission Chairperson, Indian judge Srinivasan Muralidhar, stated that "the evidence shows that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by the Israeli security forces." He said that "by targeting children, Israel is attacking the very capacity of the Palestinian people to exist and to determine their future."

The report states that the killing and maiming of children is "part of a strategy to destroy the biological continuity and future existence of the Palestinian group in Gaza." According to the commission, Israel is imposing living conditions in Gaza that are "resulting in preventable mortality of children."

According to the report, Israel has "erased" childhood in Gaza. Severe physical and mental injuries, mass trauma, orphanhood, separation, disability, repeated displacements, starvation, and the collapse of education and healthcare have erased childhood in Gaza. The report states that even after the ceasefire came into effect in October 2025, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, demonstrating Israel's continued disregard for the ceasefire and international law.

According to UNICEF, on average one child per day has been martyred in Gaza since the ceasefire. Children are being shot, bombed, struck by drone attacks, killed in tents, in schools, while playing football, and while fishing.

This report once again exposes Israel's brutal face to the world. A face that does not hesitate to target innocent children, which a murderous system has adopted and continues its aggression and atrocities.
