Beijing: A devastating fire at a shoe manufacturing factory in southeastern China's Fujian Province has claimed the lives of at least 28 people, according to state media. Rescue teams continue searching the damaged building amid fears that more workers may still be trapped inside.

The fire broke out around midday on Thursday at a shoe factory located in Jiangtou Village, Jinjiang City. Witnesses reported that flames spread rapidly through the facility, leaving many workers with little time to escape.

Firefighters and emergency responders rushed to the scene, battling the blaze while carrying out search-and-rescue operations. Several injured workers were taken to nearby hospitals, where some remain in critical condition.
