FIFA World Cup 2026 has entered one of the most exciting phases of the tournament. This edition has already made history as the biggest World Cup ever, with 48 national teams competing across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The new format has brought more matches, more excitement and more opportunities for emerging football nations to compete on the world's biggest stage.

The tournament began on June 11 with 48 teams divided into 12 groups. After the group stage, the top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, advanced to the Round of 32. From there, every match became a knockout contest where one defeat meant elimination.

The group stage produced several memorable moments. Traditional football powers such as France, Spain, Argentina and England showed why they are among the favourites, while a number of emerging teams impressed with fearless performances. The expanded format also allowed more countries to experience World Cup knockout football for the first time.

As the competition moved into the knockout rounds, the intensity increased. Every match became closely contested, with several teams fighting until the final minutes to keep their World Cup dreams alive. The Round of 16 featured fast-paced football, dramatic finishes and outstanding individual performances from some of the world's biggest stars.

One of the biggest talking points of the tournament has been the elimination of Brazil. Considered one of the strongest title contenders before the tournament began, Brazil's exit shocked football fans around the world and proved once again that every knockout match can produce surprises.

The quarter-finals have now reduced the competition to only a handful of teams. France secured a place in the semi-finals with an impressive victory over Morocco, while Spain also booked its place in the last four after defeating Belgium. The remaining quarter-final matches between Norway and England, and Argentina and Switzerland, will decide the final two semi-finalists.

According to the tournament schedule, the first semi-final will be played on July 14 in Dallas, where France will face Spain. The second semi-final is scheduled for July 15 in Atlanta between the winners of Norway vs England and Argentina vs Switzerland.

The losing semi-finalists will compete for third place on July 18 in Miami, while the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, where the next world champion will be crowned.

With only a few matches remaining, every team still in the tournament is just one step away from football history. Fans around the world are eagerly waiting to see which nation will keep its composure under pressure and lift the most prestigious trophy in world football.
