Imran Khan Hospital Dispute Sparks Fresh PTI-Government Clash

A fresh dispute has emerged between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the federal government over the medical examination of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi criticised the authorities for taking Imran Khan to PIMS Hospital instead of Shifa International Hospital. He said the government’s handling of the matter was deeply disappointing and alleged that the decision amounted to contempt of court.

The dispute comes as political tensions surrounding Imran Khan’s detention and medical treatment remain high.

PTI Raises Questions Over Hospital Decision

Sohail Afridi questioned why Imran Khan was taken to PIMS rather than Shifa International Hospital.

He argued that the authorities should have followed the arrangements previously expected for Imran Khan’s medical examination. The chief minister also accused the administration and federal government of disregarding the Supreme Court’s directions.

The PTI has continued to demand greater clarity over the circumstances surrounding Imran Khan’s medical care.

Government Cites Security Concerns

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar rejected the PTI’s explanation and said the decision was linked to security concerns.

According to Tarar, the situation created by PTI workers made it necessary for Imran Khan’s medical examination to be carried out at PIMS Hospital.

The two sides have therefore presented sharply different accounts of why Imran Khan was examined at PIMS.

Sohail Afridi Announces Stronger Release Campaign

Sohail Afridi also announced plans to intensify the political movement seeking Imran Khan’s release.

His announcement indicates that the PTI intends to maintain pressure on the government over the former prime minister’s detention. The latest dispute over his medical examination could further increase tensions between the two sides.
