Pakistan's batting woes continued at Lord's as England's seam attack ripped through the tourists for just 110 on day two, following on from their innings-and-103-run defeat at Headingley. Ollie Robinson led the damage with 4 for 11, Jofra Archer picked up 3 for 26, and Josh Tongue chipped in with two wickets as Pakistan collapsed to hand England a commanding 180-run first-innings lead.


England Post 290 Before Pakistan's Collapse


After being dismissed for 290 in their first innings, England's four seamers made full use of overcast conditions at Lord's, bowling Pakistan out in just 37.2 overs. Robinson was the standout performer, finishing with figures of 4 for 11 from 13 overs including six maidens, while Archer struck with pace, claiming 3 for 26. Tongue took two wickets, and Gus Atkinson went wicketless despite a tidy spell.


Azan Awais Stands Alone


Opener Azan Awais was the lone bright spot in Pakistan's innings, digging in for 102 balls to score 46 after failing in both innings of the first Test. His knock stood out even further considering the next-highest contribution on the scoresheet was 20 extras. Awais was eventually dismissed top-edging a pull shot, falling as the second-to-last man out with the score at 106 for 8.


Top Order Continues to Struggle


Pakistan's top order once again failed to fire, with Abdullah Shafique dismissed cheaply before lunch and captain Babar Azam, playing his first innings back from a finger injury, edging behind to Tongue shortly after the break. Saud Shakeel managed just 16 before being trapped lbw by Robinson, and Mohammad Rizwan followed soon after, also falling lbw to Robinson following a rain delay.


Injury Concerns Add to Pakistan's Woes


Pakistan's troubles were compounded by the absence of opener Imam-ul-Haq, who was unable to bat due to a low-grade calf tear sustained while fielding on day one, effectively leaving Pakistan batting a man short. With Awais holding one end together, wickets fell in quick succession, including Ali Usman being bowled by Archer and Khurram Shahzad edging behind off Robinson.


What This Means for the Series


Trailing 1-0 in the three-match series after their heavy defeat at Headingley, Pakistan now find themselves 180 runs behind on first innings at Lord's, facing the prospect of another difficult result unless their bowlers can produce a strong second effort with the ball. England will resume their innings looking to extend their advantage and push for victory inside four days.

Pakistan's innings folded on day two of the Lord's Test on Friday, August 28, 2026, with play concluding in the evening UK time, corresponding to around 10 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
