A powerful landslide:

 has struck a mountainous area in China's Gansu province, leaving at least 16 people still missing as emergency rescue teams continue searching through debris. The disaster comes as several regions across China face severe weather, including heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

According to official reports, dozens of people were initially trapped when the landslide occurred. Rescue workers have successfully saved several victims, while search operations remain underway for those still unaccounted for. Authorities have deployed heavy machinery and emergency personnel to speed up the recovery efforts.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed officials to make every possible effort to rescue the missing and provide assistance to affected families. Local authorities have also activated emergency response measures in the disaster hit region.

Meanwhile, severe storms have caused widespread disruption in other parts of the country. Strong winds and torrential rain have damaged infrastructure, disrupted transportation, and left hundreds of people injured. Weather experts have warned that continued rainfall could trigger additional landslides and flash flooding, particularly in mountainous and low-lying areas.

China's meteorological authorities have issued fresh weather alerts, warning that several provinces could receive extremely heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Residents in high-risk areas have been advised to remain alert and follow evacuation instructions if necessary.

Forecasters are also closely monitoring Super Typhoon Bavi over the Pacific Ocean, as it continues moving toward East Asia. Officials say the storm could further increase weather-related risks across the region in the coming days.
